Fatboy: the Dutch brand that decided good design should last
Founded in the Netherlands in 2002, Fatboy started with a bean bag and a very clear point of view: good design should make life easier, more comfortable, and considerably more fun. The name came straight from the product - an oversized, sit-anywhere bag that landed at Milan Design Week and promptly became a design icon. The rest of the brand grew from there.
What stayed constant is the thinking behind it. Fatboy designs with circularity in mind: products are built to last, easy to repair, and made so individual parts can be replaced rather than the whole thing thrown out. Covers are interchangeable, so a change of colour or moving from indoors to outdoors doesn't mean buying new. Repair kits exist for the parts that wear first.
On materials: wherever possible, Fatboy works with recycled fabrics - recycled polyester, rPET cord, recycled canvas - without compromising on feel. The Concrete Seat and Attackle Sofa are made from 100% recycled materials and produced in the Netherlands.
Dutch design built to outlast the trends it inspired.
