The Refill Shoppe: because reusing beats recycling
Michelle Stevens grew up on a sailboat for ten years, which is roughly how long it takes to notice how much plastic ends up in the ocean. Years later, refilling a pretty olive oil bottle instead of buying another, a question formed in the shower: why not just refill the perfectly good bottles you already have?
She opened The Refill Shoppe in Ventura, California, on 2 July 2010. It's now a certified B Corp, and the idea is exactly as simple as it sounds: get just what you need, without everything you don't.
The range is bath, body and home - bath salts, oils, sprays, washes - mostly organic, vegan, free of the usual unpronounceables, and refillable down to the last drop. Many are custom-scented, so you choose how it ends up smelling.
Because reusing beats recycling. One bottle at a time.
